Welcome to YOUR year. The year you finally decide to take your own advice and listen to what you really want out of YOUR life.

It starts with where you’re at right now. Let’s keep it simple. Let’s say you want to lose weight. You ‘say’ you want to, and yet all actions demonstrate the opposite. You need to ask yourself: “Do I really want to lose weight?” If yes, then start with where you’re at now. Look at the food that you’re eating today. How much, and what kind? Do you eat out at restaurants a lot? Do you exercise? Now, take every day and decide to change your behaviour to get the results that you want.

Easy? Nope.

Doable, of course. How badly do you want it?

Another example. You say: “I hate my job.” The fact that you call it a job is a huge ‘tell.’ Once again, start with where you’re at right now. Look at your finances, your life conditions, and your options. If you know what you want to move into, fantastic. If not, start writing down all the things that interest you. Then start matching the skills that you have, and/or need to acquire in order to move into what interests you.

You are NOT STUCK. You’re bored. Uninspired. And need a swift wake-up call to get you motivated. Think— ‘New Year. New and improved YOU.’

Ok, so these are just words until you put them into action. Ask yourself: “Is my way working?” Am I seeing the results that I want?” If not, why not? What’s holding you back? Is it worth it to you? Again, I ask you: “How badly do you want it?” By that I mean, anything.

Stop looking for answers outside of yourself. It has to start with you. Remember, this is the Year of YOU. It has ‘you’ in it. Be the one to make the first move. You start, then watch … you’ll start to get the help and guidance that you need to keep going. That’s how it works.

If you don’t care about yourself and the changes, and/or the aspirations you have, how can you expect anyone else to either?

This isn’t a pep talk (clearly). I’m holding up a mirror, having you to look into it, and asking you: “One year from today what do you want to be doing?” Let’s try it my way.

Write down what you want. Every single day do something positive to take action toward the results that you want to see. It doesn’t matter how small the action is. It can be as simple as, having an apple instead of a cookie. It can be talking with people to brainstorm your ideas (say them out loud). It needs to be consistent. You do need to get out of your comfort zone. Stop hesitating. Quit listening to your negative self-talk.

Every time you start to action something, do it immediately. Don’t hesitate because you WILL talk yourself out of it. If you don’t feel like doing it (anything). Do. It. ANYWAYS.

This is The Year of YOU. Now GO make it happen.
