Shibui India’s Founder Atman Sandhu Shares A Guide To Choosing Planters For Your Home

How do I pot a plant in my planter?

Place the drainage plate on floor and place planter on it. Add gravel, pebbles any filler of your choice. Carefully place the plant in the middle and add the soil. Cover with a thin layer of moss. Don’t forget to water!

What should I use as fillers in my planter?

Gravel, pebbles, pieces of broken pottery, nut shells, pinecones, sticks, and coffee filters can all been used as fillers to improve drainage. As a rule of (green) thumb, planters don’t like to have wet feet – that is, having their roots sitting in water makes them unhappy.

How often should I water my planter?

In sunny weather, plan to water your planter at least twice a week. During very hot temperatures and dry spells you may need to water every other day to avoid drying out of the plant.

Do I need to put a drainage plate under my planter?

Yes a drainage plate is a must to absorb any excess water to avoid water collection at the base of the planter!

How do I clean my planter?

Wash clean using a soft damp cloth with a mix of water and any mild detergent. Do not scrub hard.
