One of the biggest, also one of my favorite trends among the millennial generation is a vision board.
For those of you who are not aware of the concept, a vision board is a collection of images and ideas that act as motivation and inspiration representing the individual’s goals, wishes and motives.
It could have anything and everything the person intends to do, get or be in their future, like being a businessman, getting a house, meeting Angelina Jolie, owning a BMW, finishing a degree and whatnot. Everything they aspire to achieve and everything that inspires them. Kind of like a To-Do list.
A beautiful concept, isn’t it? I know.
So how do you MAKE a vision board? It’s actually as easy as it sounds: just a bunch of pictures on a board. But, as anything else art-related, there is a collection of items you’ll need and a process that you’ll go through.
Step 1: Make a list of your “visions”.
Write down everything you have on your mind. Your future goals, the details, and the time limit you want to achieve them in, literally, everything.
Step 2: Go through your magazines and cut out whatever appeals you according to your list.
Now open up your magazines and find stuff that relates to your list. Pictures of people you want to meet, things you want to buy, places you want to go, everything you can possibly find. Cut out these pictures neatly (or not, it’s up to your taste and style, no one’s judging).
Step 3: Glue them to the board.
It’s time for the fun part! Turn on some music (optional), and start pasting the pictures on to the board according to whatever order and pattern you want. Have fun, be creative and glue everything down.
Step 4: Leave a little space in the middle for your own picture.
This part is also optional. If you want to make the board a little more personal (I mean, it’s already pretty much a hundred percent personal but you get what I mean!) leave a little space in the middle for a picture of you or your name in the centre.
Step 5: Hang it.
And we’ve reached the final step! Your board is ready.
All you need to do now is find a good place for it. The best place for a vision board is somewhere you visit every day, like your bedroom or your studio. Hang it in a corner that is clearly visible or a wall you look at very often. The vision board is supposed to motivate you and inspire you to achieve your goals so it works best if you can see it as often as you can. Vision boards are a very good way to remind you of your ultimate goals, big and small, bring back your focus every time it diverts and remind you what you’re working for every time you start losing motivation.
I’m going to start working on my vision board for 2020 very soon. Have you made yours yet?
