Feel Good Friday with Shehla Khan

Shehla Khan was born into the world of fashion and always used to hang around her father’s business of embroidery. From a very young age, she knew that fashion is her forte and that’s exactly what she saw herself doing in the future. Sonam Kapoor, Tara Sutaria, Athiya Shetty, Janhvi Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif — the list of celebrities seen in outfits designed by Shehla Khan is nearly never-ending. We talk to her about her plans for this Friday and more..

What is your plan for the weekend?

My plan for this weekend is to have a nice dinner with some of my friends and then spend a quality Sunday with my family!

What are three things you are most grateful for this Friday?

My family, my friends and for all my well-wishers and love that I have in my life!

What song are you enjoying the week?

My friends have put together a 90’s playlist and I have been really enjoying that in the gym, in the car and just in general!

What’s your weekend morning routine?

On Saturday’s I usually wake up and say some prayers of thanks and then go for a long run or do a bit of an intense work-out. In the night, I usually have dinner and wine with some of my close friends. On Sunday’s, I wake up a little late and chill with my family and we usually do an early lunch and spend quality time together.

What does weekend self-care look like for you?

Just taking out time for myself because Monday to Friday (sometimes Saturday too) is hectic with work. So weekend self-care for is to relax, chill, reboot and spend time with your loved ones.

If you are a work-out buff, catching up on your workout or going for a nice therapeutic run, walk or yoga! Oh and also catch up on some nice movies.

What’s your must-have beauty product?

I love make-up and love lipsticks, a really good mascara and I am currently obsessed with the Fenty mascara. Also a nice highlighter and under-eye concealer.

What facemask do you absolutely love?

I don’t use facemasks very often but I use virgin-coconut oil of my face every night before I sleep. One face mask I do enjoy is the Charlotte Tilbury facemask- it really leaves your skin feeling really soft and fresh if you have had a long night or less sleep or have an occasion to go for! I usually wear it once in a while before an important occasion.

TV show you are currently enjoying?

I am enjoying a couple of TV shows. I started Queen’s Gambit a little late but I am watching it slowly. I also re-started The OC which is an old school show and reminds me of my college days. I am thoroughly enjoying it. Another show that I have finished and want to keep enjoying it is Bridgerton season 1 and absolutely cannot wait for the second season.

Are you a Tea or Coffee Person?

I love tea and coffee. I like my coffee black usually and I love masala tea. So it really depends on my mood and day if I am a tea or coffee person!

What’s your favourite comfort food?

Ice cream, any kind of chocolate, French fries and a lot of cheese!

What is the funniest thing you have read about yourself on the internet?

I haven’t really read anything about myself on the internet thankfully! I am a very shy and reserved person but something that I was a little taken back about was that I copied another international designer and it was appalling to me because I strongly believe in originality and each person sticking to their own aesthetic and being very authentic at the time! However it wa funny at that time.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate. I cannot go a day without chocolate. I am a shopperholic and I shop as therapy. If I have had a bad week or a couple of weeks I think every month I do some binge shopping even if its groceries or something completely unnecessary. Clothes are my passion so whenever I can manage to buy stuff online or when I am travelling (which hasn’t been for a while haha) I love acquiring clothes.

Your favourite quote?

“If you want to feel happy, do something for yourself. If you want to be fulfilled do something for someone else!”

What’s your spirit animal?

Cat! I have been told I have a lot of similarities to a cat by my brother and sister in law who have a pet kitten. I usually never found myself to be a cat person but I am very fond of their pet and I do tend to relate to her a lot!

What advice do you have for any kid who looks up to you?

Firstly I would say thank you, I am honoured! I would just say whatever you do and whatever you become in life just be honest, be authentic and just work really hard and do your best!
