We find out what it takes to run a successful bakery and some of the challenges in running the business.

What were some of the challenges you faced when you started at D-liciouS Chandigarh?

In 2012, fondant was a new concept, I couldn’t get my ingredients in Chandigarh and would have to call them from Delhi each time.

Also, all the tools and moulds had to be constantly imported from USA or UK. now thankfully everything is available in India. Also, convincing people to pay accordingly to my effort and time for a cake was a task.

How did you get your first clients for D-liciouS Chandigarh?

Since I had been making chocolates for a year,  I had a facebook page and all already. I just posted some pictures. As a result, few clients ordered cupcakes as return gifts and fondant cakes for their celebrations. And then through word of mouth I started getting orders (Touchwood).

How do you maintain customer loyalty at D-liciouS Chandigarh?

Most of our clients are repeat clients so we play heavily on loyalty. We use the best ingredients and try giving a fresh, neat and different cake each time. We don’t compromise on the taste and quality.

How do you market your business?

Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat are my marketing tools. Instagram stories are interactive. I post a lot of DIY videos and engage in interactive content there. Also word of mouth.
